Integrating Human-Centered Approaches into Engineering Classrooms

Project Summary

This project aims to advance a bold vision for engineering education: preparing technically rigorous and socially responsible engineers who design with, not just for, people. Through instructional innovation, collaborative research, and community leadership, this initiative integrates human-centered approaches into engineering classrooms, projects, and faculty collaborations across the College.

“In school, all we do are strenuous math problems and it's hard to see that there's a human connection behind that. But this [HCD activity] made me realize that my job in the end will be to help humans.” - Second Year Mechanical Engineering Student

This project is supported by the partnership with the Grainger College of Engineering.
