We build a community of creative problem-solvers through our shared spaces and collaborations.

Who Can Reserve Spaces in SCD

  1. Anyone on campus who needs a flexible classroom that allows for greater collaboration 
  2. RSOs and student teams who need space to meet regularly and access to design resources
  3. Groups who need space or lockers to work on their projects.

A valid University email address is required to reserve spaces and an active I-Card is required to check out any equipment. If you're part of the campus community, you can use anything in SCD for whatever you are working on.

Please make requests at least 2 days in advance.

Request Space

Please note: All RSOs must receive approval from the SODA Team before reserving space via Skedda.

Per university policy, requests to the SODA Team must be submitted 2 WEEKS before your event.

Public Spaces and Meeting Rooms

Starlight Room

The Starlight Room inspired our light-themed room names, with light that pours in from all sides. The room is great for small meetings with seating for up to 24.

Upper Lobby

SCD's upper lobby connects the Gallery and Starlight Room, offers easy access to the catering prep room, and has high-top tables and seating for up to 40 guests.

Meeting room 1070

This conference room is perfect for in-person or hybrid meetings, with seating for up to 11, and walls lined with a whiteboard and a large-screen monitor.

The Gallery

The Gallery offers a place to get inspired, host an event, or just relax while you soak in the atmosphere. The space has a built-in PA system and room for up to 70 in casual seating among the artwork.

Amphitheater

Our Amphitheater is created by the winding ramp that coils into the lower level, and can be seen from all around the building. With space for up to 30 people, this is a great place to share, present, or just hang out.

Lower Lobby

SCD's lower lobby, with its large step seating and tucked-away couches, is an excellent spot for mingling events, poster sessions, or small groups to work along the 100-foot wall of whiteboards.

The Annex

The Annex can be used for small group events that require access to The Shop for crafting, painting, and other lo-fi activities that are not allowed in other parts of the building.

East Terrace

The East Terrace is an outdoor space that can be used for small meetings and gatherings, as well as larger performances or events that utilize the surrounding green spaces.
