Siebel Center for Design (SCD) and the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) are partnering to prepare K–12 educators to teach authentic AI literacy through Human-Centered Design, with sustained mentorship and support throughout the school year.

Leveraging SCD’s extensive expertise and proven methodologies, this program delivers a high-quality and impactful training experience. Participants will leave equipped with the knowledge and tools to integrate HCD principles into their practices, fostering meaningful and sustainable change within their organizations.

Who should apply?

We are seeking up to 20 K-12 educators who want to:

  • Teach AI literacy in a real, classroom-ready way
  • Create authentic, student-centered design experiences
  • Prototype, iterate, and grow with a community of peers

By the end of the program, you’ll be able to:

  • Teach all 4 components of AI literacy within a real design project context
  • Explain core HCD principles and how they create authentic demand for AI literacy practice
  • Design student-centered HCD + AI learning experiences
  • Develop meaningful assessment strategies for design-based AI learning
  • Iterate your instructional designs using peer and mentor feedback
