SCD Grand Opening
Siebel Center for Design's long-awaited grand opening and building dedication took place on Friday, October 8, 2021.
On October 8, 2021, after months of preparation and anticipation, Siebel Center for Design was formally dedicated on a beautifully sunny afternoon. 200+ guests attended in person, and over a hundred people watched the event live online.
Guest of honor Tom Siebel, several members of his family, the building's architect, University of Illinois leadership, and SCD leadership cut the ribbon together on the east terrace, symbolically ushering in a new era for SCD.
Visitors then moved inside for a building open house, partaking in conversation, refreshments, souvenirs, and self-guided tours of the building.
"It was such an unforgettable, exciting day," says SCD's director, Rachel Switzky. "It was a perfect way to mark a very big milestone in our history - and we’re so grateful to everyone who worked so hard to make it happen."
