In-Class Workshops
SCD’s In-Class Workshops offer an introduction of human-centered design and the mindsets it develops.
Facilitated by HCD-trained SCD Teaching Scholars, In-Class Workshops explore the human-centered design process, creativity, empathy, and communication. Design activities can be adapted to meet the needs of your course and students. Workshops can be offered in-person at SCD, in-person in your classroom, or via Zoom.
Workshop Topics
A Brief Introduction to Human Centered Design explores the what, how, and why of human-centered design. This workshop gets students excited about the possibilities of approaching complex problems in new and innovative ways.
Understanding Oneself and Others introduces empathy as a human-centered way to enhance problem solving. This workshop inspires students to talk to stakeholders when confronted with a challenging problem.
Building Creative Confidence empowers students to use creativity to facilitate problem solving through collaboration and critical thinking. This workshop encourages confidence in making creative leaps, leading to innovation.
Creating Captive Audiences breaks down storytelling into accessible building blocks and beats, allowing students to communicate their ideas in a way that engages audiences. This workshop enables students to map out an upcoming storytelling moment (presentation, pitch, creative writing, etc.) in a cohesive and compelling way.
