Learn the basic safety and uses of various wood shop tools and equipment in the making of your own push stick! Push sticks are a safety tool used for machines such as table saws, band saws, and radial arm saws. This workshop will give you the skills needed to get started in woodworking and leave you with a handmade tool to use during your next visit.

This unique workshop will introduce you to woodworking on a smaller scale through making a beautiful custom wooden bookmark. No experience required, but the Wood shop orientation module must be completed at the time of the event. 

Relax and enjoy learning the ancient art of paper folding at SCD. Learn at least three different types of folds with opportunities to learn more after the initial demonstration. No previous experience required, origami paper is provided.

Following your introductory workshop to woodworking, join us as we apply our knowledge and skills to create a great beginner project to use at home! Learn to make a simple pair of salad tongs- great for personal use, a housewarming gift, and other applications.
