Hear about the ‘Day in the Life’ of operators from organizations focused on social impact and some past SCD students who are currently starting out in this space. A moderated and real life look into how design plays a critical role in helping to put programming together, reflecting on outcomes, and iterating into more impactful prototypes for the demographics we are aiming to serve.
A 10 year chronology of giving STEM education to communities of color through the vehicle of social design. Let’s review the mindsets, tools, and experiments that have positively impacted children, parents, teachers, and administrators all over the world over the last decade.
An immersive exercise designed to have participants collaboratively diverge and generate ideas … and then converge on a solution prototype that they’ll present in a lightning pitch. A great way to get moving and put ourselves in a designer’s mindset … learning by doing at its finest.
We will play a little trivia game to see who has been absorbing the nuggets of knowledge from all of the previous presentations and panels. Prizes may or may not be given to those with good memories and the courage to participate and contribute their thoughts!
A collage of videos from past SCD supporters of our Intro to Social Design course … it will give a great look into the on the ground work of social workers and community designers from all over the state of Illinois. If these video vignettes intrigue you, a career in this space may be for you.
